The ground is covered in snow and the temperatures are frigid, but it’s warm inside at Bona Vista. Of course we cranked the heat up, but we feel the warmth from all of the caring hearts of our “family”. Warmth isn’t just created by building a fire or turning up the thermostat, it is created when people show love and that they care, and that’s what we are all about at Bona Vista. In fact, we put the care in caregiving!
Our agency exists to take care of those with developmental disabilities. Without our services, many would not have the ability to be independent or be working toward everyday goals. We have a big team working together to help our persons served live their best life possible and part of that is making sure they feel loved and cared about. So, during this Valentine’s Day season, we had to think of some fun ways to show the love! Our Adult Day Services just got back to their normal schedule this week, thanks to COVID, so we REALLY wanted to be sure that everyone had the best week ever.
Our kiddos and adults worked tirelessly on some awesome crafts this week. I know that some special loved ones are going to get some really amazing art work to display once they are taken home. We had a special dress-up week with fun themes like, “You’re never too old to for love” and dress in an old age costume, pajama day, sport’s jersey day, superhero day and wear red, white and pink day! It was fun to see what everyone came up with, especially for the old age costumes.
The week was also full of Valentine’s chocolates and cards being exchanged and sticky hearts on office doors adorning positive sentiments. I could hear laughter and singing coming from the preschool classrooms as I walked down the hall. We finished up the week with a little celebration for our adults in day services and took them treats and wished them a happy Valentine’s Day. Their excitement and smiles definitely warmed our hearts and we easily forgot about the snow covered ground and freezing temperatures.
